About ABHP Continuing Education Credits
Continuing Education for the Academy for
Brain Health and Performance Courses
ABHP works with affiliate partners (like Wellcoaches, Inc and the Medical Fitness Association) to offer continuing education for our courses.
What’s the difference between a CEC and a CEU?
A continuing education credit, or CEC, is a unit that corresponds to actual contact hours, equivalent to time spent in hours devoted to maintaining education and knowledge in a respective field. The content may not have been submitted to an accrediting organization and therefore may not necessarily comply with any guidelines. Units are acceptable if the activity has been granted hours by a credit-granting organization.
A continuing education unit, or CEU, is authorized by an accredited organization. Courses eligible for CEUs have a description, learning outcomes and method of instruction. The content is supported with published references, the presenter is a subject matter expert, and the participants give feedback through the course evaluation.
The Lifestyle Medicine for the Brain Course offers Continuing Education from the following affiliate partners:
Wellcoaches, Inc.: 3 CECs; no extra charge; can be used by certified Wellcoaches toward their 30 hour continuing education requirement.
Medical Fitness Association: 3 CEUs, $75; can be used toward continuing education requirements for the Medical Fitness Association, American College of Sports Medicine, National Board for Health, Wellness Coaches and American Kinesiotherapy Association. CECs may be available from other organizations. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued that may be used to petition for continuing education credits. For information about petitioning your credentialing organization, please contact their Education Department for details.
Note: Certificate of Attendance CECs will be issued quarterly.
